Across the globe in every Don Bosco Institutions, the month of May is a very important month in which Bosconians show their deepest gratitude towards the Blessed Mother.
Here in Vunabsco, we had the novena to Mary Help of Christians which started on Tuesday 2nd of May by the Grade 10s and as follows. Students recite the Holy Rosary; sing songs and present flowers to the Blessed Mother as a sign of gratitude, devotion, love and respect. The novena is celebrated every morning assembly before proceeding to normal classes.
We are also encouraged to visit the Blessed Sacrament during the day for personal prayers and daily meditations.
Upon the arrival of Fr. Alfred (SDB), he raised a question that struck all the students. He further stressed out the important virtue that Don Bosco wanted his students to imitate from Mother Mary and that is “PURITY”. Purity is the state of having a clean mind and heart when referring to the spiritual formation of a person.
For it is believed that in every Don Bosco Schools, every student is called by the Blessed Mother. As one of the sayings of Don Bosco states, “Have devotion to Mother Mary and you will see what miracles are!”
The month of May was one of the most interesting and intriguing moment in which many activities happened in regards to the Blessed Mother. These includes the daily Novena, feast day of St. Dominic Savio, the Marian alter competitions, Parents Day celebrations, Marian activities which includes the creative dances, song interpretations, quiz, Coral competitions in which all the classes in the school took part, and last but not the least, the Youth Camp which was hosted by VBATSS.
The Novena MHC was daily commemorated all throughout the month of May every morning assembly by different classes who offered flowers to the Blessed Mother and recited the Holy Rosary.
The Feast Day of St. Dominic Savio was celebrated on (Day, Date). Savio was a student of Don Bosco. He was a very kind hearted boy who did every chores extra ordinarily well. He had a saying which states “Die rather than offending God. He died at the age of 15 and was declared a Saint by Pope (Name) on the (Date).
The Marian alter competitions is a way that Bosconians use their creativity, imaginations and God-given talents to explore and construct magnificient and attractive alter in every classrooms of each class. Every afternoon, the class has to bring fresh flowers to the alter, water the flowering cans and create more ideas in developing the alter to a great masterpiece work. Judges took down points every afternoon for the effort put into the alter. Prices were given to every class but major ones to the top leading 5 classes. This year the, the Grade 11 A’s won the alter competitions.
The Parents Day is a day in which the school encourages the spirit of Unity of making everyone in the pastoral community with parents, guardians and family members become part of the family of Don Bosco. All working to promote better and successful students in this country. The day was held on (Date) in the school area.
