SALT Program 2018: Whispering the Gospel Through Service

DBTI Henderson has organized its SALT Program 2018. The activities started on Friday 20/04 with an overnight camp. On the schedule were Fun Games and talks on the theme of “Whispering the Gospel through service.” The two facilitators of the camp were Fr. Moise, and Mr. Thomas Kevaro. Respectively they highlighted the power of action which speaks louder than any words, and the need to develop in our young people the voluntarism spirit. 148 students from all the technologies in school took part in the program together with them were eight teachers. After the commissioning that took place satruday the morning during the Mass presided over by fr. Moise, all the students went full of zeal to start their first SALT 2018 experience at the Nation Referal Hospital. They cleaned the compound, picked rubbish and install fans and mopes in certain wards. From 9.00 am to 12.30 students show courage and inspired may passing-by and visitors in the hospital. With a spirit of satisfaction of really giving service, all of them went home rejoicing although tired. In addition to this, the Students continued to whisper the Gospel with a missionary zeal to the Good Samaritan Hospital, Christian Care Center-Tenaru and in the middle of China Town-Honiara.

Don Bosco

Don Bosco was creative, enthusiastic and enterprising in his work. He wrote and edited booklets, school texts, histories, digests, magazines, fliers, plays. From his earliest years as a priest, Don Bosco communicated through his whole demeanour and person, through games, talking, visiting, preaching, and publishing. Communicating through the internet and publishing is a priority for Salesians. Inspired by this example of Don Bosco and the early Salesians, Social Communication continues an important priority.
