Awareness and Career Talks

It is part of the school plan to offer opportunities for us students to be aware of what the society needs from us more than what we learn from books. Thus, for this term 2 the school has respectively organized career talks and awareness. On the 2nd and 16th of May the school held talk on Mandarin Chinese language and a talk on national security. For The Mandarin language, Ms. Kuei- Mi Li from the Taiwan Embassy who is running the same program practically for many schools in Honiara introduced Taiwanese to the students. Students enjoyed her talk, quizzes, and practices pronounce of mandarin Chinese. But also because they had the taste of the Taiwanesse cuisine prepared by our hospitality students under the guidance of the Taiwan Technical Mission. Moreover, about the national security, we had mr. Bernard from the ministry of national security and immigration team came to speak to the students on the need of being our of dangers facing the country if the country cant protect its borders.
Mr. and Mr. talked about main aim of national security of SI. Students listened to the talk attentively, as evidenced by many questions from them.
Both program were successful and encouraged the school. I will try to make the most of what I’ve learned.

Don Bosco was creative, enthusiastic and enterprising in his work. He wrote and edited booklets, school texts, histories, digests, magazines, fliers, plays. From his earliest years as a priest, Don Bosco communicated through his whole demeanour and person, through games, talking, visiting, preaching, and publishing. Communicating through the internet and publishing is a priority for Salesians. Inspired by this example of Don Bosco and the early Salesians, Social Communication continues an important priority.
