Grateful – Hopeful – Youthful

The Ruby Jubilee of Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu commenced on the 9th August 2025.

The official opening signalled the start of activities celebrating 40 years of Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu.

A lively and joyful atmosphere pervaded the school as students, parents, past pupils, and friends prepared themselves for the Motorcade. The interesting fun games gave a positive thrust to the program.  All were reminded of the guiding rules and principles of the school that are essential for an enjoyable celebration, as rules guide our lives and all in society.

The main objective of the motorcade was awareness of the 40th year anniversary of DBTS with the Theme: Grateful, hopeful and youthful 40 years.

The turn up for the motorcade was unexpected. Parents and past pupils requestied to the celebration, which resulted in over 50 vehicles joining the motorcade. The motorcade went down to Manu, 5-mile, Gordons, up the freeway to Downtown and then back to Don Bosco, Gabutu.

“During the motorcade, past pupils and other members of the DBTS family greeted us along the way, which is a clear sign that DBTS has had a meaningful 40 years of existence”, said Ms Adi Lydia Tenakanai, coordinator of the event.

The celebration has been filled with energy – a sure sign of joyful events to come.

Editorial
Don Bosco

Don Bosco was creative, enthusiastic and enterprising in his work. He wrote and edited booklets, school texts, histories, digests, magazines, fliers, plays. From his earliest years as a priest, Don Bosco communicated through his whole demeanour and person, through games, talking, visiting, preaching, and publishing. Communicating through the internet and publishing is a priority for Salesians. Inspired by this example of Don Bosco and the early Salesians, Social Communication continues an important priority.
