Don Bosco RTC is not connected to any Grid system and we were without electrical power in the past 18 years. This Solar power system comes as a big blessing for the school, staff, students and parish of Don Bosco Mission at Tetere. We were using diesel powered generator during the evening hours in order to power the campus. Using the genset an enormous cost for the RTC, since we had to buy fuel every time to run the generator. This solar power is economical, carbon free and a journey towards a greener future contributing for the climate resilience.
The new Solar power system was blessed and inaugurated on 15th November 2024 during our graduation program by Hon. Franklyn Derek Wasi, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock in the presence of Salesians, Staff, Students, invited guests and general Public. This huge investment is going to contribute for the better running of the RTC and Salesian Mission here at Tetere. The students and staff will have 24/7 hours power in their classrooms, offices, dormitories, dining halls, computer labs and in the parish church. This is a dream comes true for the missionaries who are working in this mission.
Our huge thanks to all our sponsors who contributed for the installation of the Solar Power system. Our special thanks go to Salesian Mission office at Switzerland, Mission Office at Papua New Guinea and Superfly, Solomon Islands. I really thank Mr. Jan Vossen and team who came to do the preliminary studies and doing the need assessment of the place. We would like to express our sincere thanks to Fr. Srimal and his team for the hard work done in writing the project and making it a reality. We sincere thanks Superfly and their dedicated engineers and team who worked for past three months to install the system. A million thanks to our donors who contributed with your generous support and the mission office at Switzerland.
Now the power supply is steady and we never used the generator or fuel for electrifying our campus.
We assure you that we will look after this beautiful gift from the mission office and our prayers are there always with you. May the good Lord bless you.
