The Vice province of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands has established its digital footprint on the world wide web, with the launching of its website on 8thNovember, 2018 at Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu, Port Moresby. The web address is: www.dbpgs.com
“The launching of the PGS website is to be understood in the context of the spirit of Don Bosco. It is an important presence in the digital continent where the majority of young people are present”, said Fr Alfred Maravilla sdb, provincial as he launched the website.
The staff and students applauded enthusiastically as the different images and videos were screened. Mr. Ian Zuasula, DBTS, IT Department Head, highlighted the key features of the website and invited all the present to use the possibilities to forward relevant items to others. Fr Srimal Priyanga sdb, Rector of Don Bosco Technical Institute, Henderson was thanked for initiating the project and working closely over the past several months with Don Bosco Image, India to construct and upload the website.
Present for the launching were the Rectors from the different Houses of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands. “We need to be heralds of the Good News”, said Fr Provincial as he encouraged the Rectors and invited all to send in regular inspirational articles, news items, reflections and photographs to Fr. Ambrose Pereira sdb, to be edited and formatted for the different media outlets or uploaded on the website.
Dances by the mission group also formed part of the program. The Rectors will spend the rest of the day in discussions at the Rectors Meeting.
