In another venture to reach out to the unemployed young mothers and girls, the Don Bosco
Missions PGS of Blessed Philip Rinaldi vice Province organised the 4 weeks training program
on Basic Cooking – local and Asian cuisines and Baking – scones, cakes and donuts. The
training took place in two main centres – at the community Development Centre of Don
Bosco Technological Institute (DBTI) and at Don Bosco Technical School (DBTS). The trainees
were between the age group of 18 to 40 years, from Kesi compound near DBTI and Kaugere,
Badili and Gabutu compound around DBTS. Thirty-three mothers completed their training
and graduated with a certificate on 21 June 2024.
The project focused on self-sustainability for the trainees. Personal cleanliness, kitchen
decorum, Team work, being responsible, faith formation and human values were
incorporated into the learning. Learning the correct measurements, cultivating the habit of
being closer to God through prayer and bringing blessing to work by adding the hidden
ingredients of love, joy and peace while knitting the dough or cooking a dish.
