June 24, 2020 - Two Melanesians made their first profession as Salesians of Don Bosco at Lawaan, Cebu Philippines. Both come from East New Britain Province. Br. Thomas Warwara finished his Grade 12 at Utmei Secondary School, while Br. Joshua Tarere finished Grade 12 at Vuvu Secondary School. After Grade 12 they enrolled at Don Bosco Technological Institute, Boroko East where they both graduated with a Bachelor's degree in technical education. As students at DBTI they began their vocational journey by joining the Savio Haus Aspirantate. In 2018 they joined the Salesian prenovitiate in Lawaan and then the novitiate in 2019.
Their first profession was planned to be held at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Mary Help of Christians, Boroko East. However, the present situation caused by Coronavirus pandemic forced them to make their first profession in the Philippines.
