The Second day of EAO Team Visit 2024 at K’Long Retreat Centre

K'Long, Vietnam, 16 February 2024 -- At 6:30 a.m., 15 February, the participants gathered in the chapel to celebrate Mass presided over by the Rector Major. In the sermon, the Vicar of the Rector Major relied on God's word to invite everyone to live a spirit of renunciation to follow Jesus and become disciples of Don Bosco.

The first session started at 8:30 a.m. Participants gathered in the large hall to listen to a presentation by Father Miguel Garcia, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, with the topic: Sharing mission with lay people. He emphasized that sharing the Salesian mission is based on sharing the Salesian spirit, sharing the Salesian charism. When working with lay people, despite differences in vocation, Salesians are never allowed to consider lay people as belonging to a second-class vocation, but they share the same Salesian charism.

Then the provinces shared the three questions that the presenter raised, in groups. The provinces look back at the current situation in their provinces, review the situation of shared responsibility with lay people in carrying out the mission, what are the difficulties and what are the ways to overcome these difficulties.

At break time, the participants had a souvenir photo with the Rector Major. Then each province took a photo with the Rector Major and the regional superior.

Editorial
Don Bosco

Don Bosco was creative, enthusiastic and enterprising in his work. He wrote and edited booklets, school texts, histories, digests, magazines, fliers, plays. From his earliest years as a priest, Don Bosco communicated through his whole demeanour and person, through games, talking, visiting, preaching, and publishing. Communicating through the internet and publishing is a priority for Salesians. Inspired by this example of Don Bosco and the early Salesians, Social Communication continues an important priority.
